Dear MOE:

It gives me great joy to make this little contribution of $100 towards this noble and worthy project that you have started. I have no doubt in my mind that with you behind this project, the response from Ndiigbo would be overwhelmingly favorable.

Efforts have been made in the past by various groups to do something for our brothers and their families but from all indications, those efforts have fallen short of doing what they were set out to do. The fact that those veterans have been supporting themselves and their families by begging along Enugu-Onitsha highway – on their wheelchairs – shows that not only have the efforts failed, we – Ndiigbo – have also shamelessly failed them in the last 38 years since the end of the Biafran war in which they courageously sacrificed their limbs.

It is disheartening, to say the least, that the wealth Ndiigbo have accumulated since the end of the war has not trickled down to our war veterans, to the level of retiring them from off the highway. The fact that our successive governments, from East Central State down to the current five South Eastern states have not seen any need to retire these veterans who have put in 38 tough years of service, in supporting themselves and their families is abominable.

With the aforementioned sentiments, I would want to thank you for starting this project and I know that if you did not believe that it would greatly succeed where others have failed, you would not have appended your signature to it. Keep it up and may it be well with you.
